The 50 most valuable teams

Dallas Cowboys Retain Title as World's Most Valuable Team for 10th Consecutive Year

Forbes has released its highly anticipated 2025 list of the world's most valuable sports teams. The findings confirm a staggering trend: the Dallas Cowboys continue their decade-long reign at the top, while European football giants find it increasingly difficult to keep pace with the financial juggernaut of the NFL.

The 13 Billion Dollar Empire

The Dallas Cowboys have once again proven that on-field success is not the only metric of a superpower. Despite not winning a Super Bowl in nearly 30 years, the franchise's value has surged to a record-breaking $13 billion, a 29% increase over the past year.

The top of the list is dominated almost exclusively by North American leagues:

  1. Dallas Cowboys (NFL): $13 billion

  2. Golden State Warriors (NBA): $11 billion

  3. Los Angeles Rams (NFL): $10.5 billion

  4. New York Giants (NFL): $10.1 billion

  5. Los Angeles Lakers (NBA): $10 billion

Football's Global Retreat

While the "beautiful game" remains the world's most popular sport, its financial representation in the top 50 has seen a noticeable decline. Only four soccer clubs remain in the elite 50, down from seven in previous years. High-profile names like Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain have all dropped out of the top rankings this year.

Real Madrid remains the most valuable football club in the world, valued at $6.75 billion (20th overall), followed by Manchester United, Barcelona, and Liverpool, with the latter securing the 48th spot with a valuation of $5.4 billion.

The Rise of Ferrari and the NFL's Grip

One of the most significant movers this year is Ferrari. The Formula 1 legend, which did not make the list last year, catapulted to 26th place with a valuation of $6.5 billion.

However, the true story is the absolute dominance of the NFL. Out of the league's 32 teams, 30 are ranked within the top 50 most valuable sports franchises in the world. The NBA follows with 12 teams, while MLB, Formula 1, and European soccer split the remaining handful of spots.

Top 50 Breakdown by League:

  • NFL: 30 teams

  • NBA: 12 teams

  • Soccer: 4 teams

  • MLB: 2 teams

  • Formula 1: 2 teams

The 2025 report makes one thing clear: the business model of American professional sports, fueled by massive media rights deals and stadium revenue, is currently operating on a level of financial stability that few others can match.
